What is Medical Grade Microneedling?

Natural Rejuvenation From Within

The idea of skin needling has been around for hundreds, even thousands of years. However, cosmetic and medical needling as it is known as today is a relatively new concept and the first example of it was in 1995 and comprised of subcision treatments.

Modern day microneedling consists of piercing the skin multiple times with very thin needles to deliver light trauma, thereby inducing an immune response and improving the health of the skin.

Medical grade microneedling allows us to penetrate the skin to a depth of up to 2.5mm although many of the benefits of needling the face and neck are found at depths of 0.25mm to 1.5mm depending on the area and the condition we are treating. Microneedling is one of the most sought after advanced skin treatment and there are significant scientific studies that prove its effectiveness. It is popular for its natural approach to anti ageing and promotion of skin health. Microneedling can help treat enlarged pores, rosacea, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, tone, pigmentation and sun damage, congested and acne prone skin. It also helps to restore a beautiful glow to the skin.

How Does Medical Microneedling Work?

Microneedling is the insertion of pinpoint needles into the skin creating microchannels for the purpose of creating a controlled wound healing response with intense renewal, repair and rejuvenation. The tiny punctures in the skin provide an opportunity to also deliver specific mesotherapy ingredients deeper into the skin thus accelerating the results of your microneedling treatment.

How can Microneedling Help You?

Our advanced microneedling treatment delivers 2200 punctures to the skin in one second, the disposable sterile needles are adjustable so we can adjust the needle length for different areas of the face and to target the different layers of skin which are responsible for varying skin functions.

Fine Lines and Wrinkles, Dull and Thinning Skin

Microneedling stimulates the production of elastin, collagen and fibroblasts. This helps to smooth wrinkles, plump and hydrate skin and restore a healthy glow.

The Treatment

1

Consultation

Your consultation is the key to a successful treatment. Alison will look at your lifestyle habits and how to maintain your results after treatment. We will go through a consent process, a medical history and take clinical pictures.

Its important that you are informed of the treatment, how many are required to get the outcome you want and the risks involved.

2

Procedure

Your skin will first be double cleansed, disinfected and the microneedling device will be prepared in a sterile manner, the FDA approved needling pen is then run over your face and neck in four different directions, this is usually painless. With your treatment we include a medical grade glide product that is needled into the skin to accelerate your result.

3

Aftercare

Your skin will be very red for around 24 - 72 hours and will be completely back to normal after about 7 days.

You will receive a complimentary aftercare kit from our science backed skincare range - Hydropeptide, created to calm, hydrate and maximise your result. This kit is entirely for you and your skins requirements. We will then reschedule your next appointments.

Microneedling Healing and Risks

  • It’s not a quick fix. It takes time to notice a difference. That’s because your body is healing itself. Most people need a few treatments before they see any change.

  • Healing time. It may take days or weeks to heal, depending on how deep the needles pierce your skin.

  • Pain and redness. You may have some minor pain after the procedure, and your skin may be red for a few days.

  • Peeling. Your skin may feel tight and flake a bit while it heals.

  • Bruising and bleeding. There’s usually no bleeding during microneedling. But deep microneedling treatments may cause the skin to bleed or bruise.

  • Possible scarring. Microneedling isn’t a good idea for people who’ve had keloids, scars that look like large bubbles on the skin. It could make the condition worse.

  • Infection. Microneedling creates tiny holes in the skin, which could let germs enter, especially if the equipment isn’t cleaned well. But the risk of infection is very low. If you’re healthy, an infection from microneedling is unlikely.

Before & After

Microneedling treats a multitude of skin concerns and maintains optimal skin health.

How Many Microneedling Treatments Will I need?

Once we have carried out an in depth consultation we can then provide a treatment plan for you. Most our clients benefit from 3 - 6 treatments and then usually a maintenance treatment once or twice a year. It depends upon your lifestyle choices also, which Alison can advise you upon.

What will I look like after Microneedling?

You will look like you have had too much sun exposure, for the first 24 hours and then the redness and slight swelling will subside. Most people find that their skin is back to normal after 7 days. We give you aftercare products from the beautiful professional skincare reange Hydropeptide to help heal your skin quicker.

Is Microneedling painful?

Due to our advanced, medical grade device, the procedure is tolerated well. The needles puncture the skin at a 90 degree angle and so there is little friction. However, everyone is different and have different tolerant levels. Topical anaesthetic is not advised as it impairs the results and recovery may take longer.

What kind of result will I see from Microneedling?

Microneedling helps to target the collagen in the skin and promotes the regulation of healthy skin cells. This includes oil production, collagen and pigment cells. Therefore it is a great treatment for antiageing, pigmentation, redness and problematic skin.
